What is Hypnotherapy?
Often hypnotherapy conjures in the mind images of stage hypnotism, people running around pretending to be chickens.
Therapeutic hypnotherapy couldn’t be more different. Hypnotherapy is a form of deep relaxation in a calm, relaxing, peaceful environment. The client is in complete control and can hear every word. Hypnotherapy is safe, and also natural. It is a similar sensation to daydreaming. How often have you let your mind drift off? But if you wanted to or needed to you could immediately “wake up” from the daydream. And that is the same when you are under hypnosis. You can “snap out” of hypnotherapy should you choose to, because it is your choice.
It is in the trance like relaxed state that your conscious mind can rest, and your unconscious can adopt fresh ways of thinking and feeling, changing those unwanted habits, behaviours or emotional/physical pain. My job as the hypnotherapist is to make suggestions that align with your goals while you’re in a relaxed state.
The benefit of hypnotherapy is the ability to enhance your life by empowering you to make changes. By getting to the root of whatever has been holding you back. This can bring about a change at a deep level that is long lasting, often permanent, but also life changing.
How successful is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy has an excellent success rate. There is a large body of evidence which shows the effectiveness of hypnotherapy as a therapy. If you are open and willing to change, follow my instructions and really want to reach your goals there is no reason the hypnotherapy wouldn’t be a success. Hypnotherapy is a process, not a quick fix. No hypnotherapist can guarantee change for 100% of people, it would be unethical to do so. As with any therapeutic intervention, it isn’t one size fits all. However I can guarantee that I will work to the best of my ability to help you reach your goals. I am very thorough, and will always place your best interests first.
How many sessions are required?
This varies from person to person, severity of the issue, and what the issue is. The number of sessions required will depend on the work we have to get through. This will be reviewed every 3 weeks. Stopping smoking is typically 1 session for example, whereas hypnotherapy for pain could be anything between 4 to 10 sessions on average. Due to how relaxing hypnotherapy is some people want to come for stress relief after they have attained their goal. We can discuss how many sessions may be required in your free consultation, once I have understood more about what you’re trying to achieve from hypnotherapy.
